John Waugh

Bio: In his position as Vice President at the Henry Ford Health System—one of the largest vertically integrated health systems in the United States, Waugh is responsible for the shared core laboratories at Henry Ford Hospital, plus laboratories in four additional hospitals, 28 ambulatory centers, and a growing laboratory outreach business. He also oversees administrative leadership, human resources, finance, supply chain, IT, and strategic planning. The Henry Ford laboratories are highly standardized, well integrated, and ISO-15189 accredited by the CAP.

Waugh holds a Master of Science degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, MT(ASCP) certification, and Lean training through Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative and the Henry Ford Production System. He has twice chaired the laboratory committee of one of the largest group purchasing organizations in the United States, is currently an active member of the Compass Group, and sits on the administrative and finance committees for Michigan Co-Tenancy Laboratories. He has been an invited speaker for the Executive War College and G2 Intelligence, and does consulting work on clinical diagnostics, where he has completed over 600 engagements.
