Denise Driscoll

Bio: Denise Driscoll, MS, MT(ASCP)SBB is the Senior Director, Laboratory Accreditation and Regulatory Affairs, at the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Since 2004, Denise has been responsible for the overall management of accreditation decisions, accreditation requirements, and regulatory and customer relationships. She has been with the CAP since 1995. In 2011, she received the CAP’s Laboratory Accreditation Program Service Award, established in honor of the late Major General Joseph M. Blumberg, MD, to recognize her significant contributions to CAP Accreditation. In addition to her extensive contributions to the CAP, Ms. Driscoll has served as an assessor and a member of the Education Committee with the American Association of Blood Banks, where she has been a member for more than 20 years. Before joining the CAP, Ms. Driscoll worked as a laboratory manager and laboratory supervisor (blood bank and apheresis) at the University of Alabama Hospital and also as a blood bank sales representative with Immucor, Inc. Ms. Driscoll received her BS in medical technology from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. She went on to receive her MS in clinical laboratory science with a specialty in blood bank technology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. As part of her MS, she conducted research on the investigation of post-therapeutic apheresis anemia. The CAP is a medical society serving more than 18,000 physician members and the global laboratory community. It is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of board-certified pathologists and is the worldwide leader in laboratory quality assurance. The College advocates accountable, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care. The CAP accredits more than 7,800 laboratories in more than 50 countries and serves approximately 20,000 laboratories that are enrolled in the CAP’s proficiency testing programs.
