John Butz III
Bio: John received his MBA from the University of Minnesota-Duluth Labovitz School of Business and Economics in 2008 after receiving prior degrees in Chemistry in 1995. He started his career at Mayo Clinic in 1998 as a laboratory technologist and then served in laboratory supervisor and laboratory operations manager roles before becoming the Administrator of Operations for Mayo Collaborative Services in 2011. In his present role, John oversees many aspects of Mayo Medical Laboratories beginning with Global Transportation and Logistics and moving through Internal Operations with specimen receipt and verification; Specimen Distribution and Post-Analytic Storage, which includes sorting and delivery of specimens, as well as storage and retrieval of processed specimens; the Preparation and Processing Laboratory, where he supervises glass washing and chemical preparation services; and Operations System Support, supervising automation and workflow integration. John’s knowledge of Mayo Medical Laboratories makes him indispensable both in the field and at home supporting sales and service. He manages the primary call center for MML, Mayo Laboratory Inquiry, and Client Support with telecommunications and ordering, providing the proper software support and second-level customer support, as well as serving as liaison between laboratory and client.
