Modena Henderson
Bio: Modena Henderson is responsible for laboratory services at Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas HealthCare System) in the Charlotte, North Carolina metro-area hospitals and health pavilions, overseeing reference laboratory services for more than 1,000 physicians, nursing homes and hospitals through the Carolinas Laboratory Network.
Over a 20-year period, Modena has worked in an array of areas, including operations, quality, customer satisfaction, regulatory/compliance, sales, service, human resources and information technology. Modena joined Atrium Health from Solstas Lab Partners, where she was vice president of hospital operations. In that role, she was the senior executive for laboratory operations with 20 healthcare facilities in four different health systems. She also served for five years as vice president and general manager for Carilion Labs in Virginia, responsible for eight laboratories and more than 1,000 providers. Prior to joining Carilion Clinic and Carilion Labs, Modena was general manager at West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pennsylvania, overseeing six hospital laboratories. She has also been a director at Humility of Mary Health Partners in Ohio.
Modena earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Dayton and a master’s degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
